Autumn is a favourite season in Hunza: the harvest is in, the air is clear and the poplars and orchards turn gold and red against fresh snow on the peaks.
We split the trip between Karimabad and Upper Hunza, so you see both the terraces of the central valley and the villages of Gojal, such as Ghulkin and Passu.
Begin the drive up the Karakoram Highway.
A full day on the highway into Hunza.
Fort visits and walks through the autumn orchards.
Cross Attabad Lake and continue to Gojal, with time in Ghulkin and Gulmit.
Walk around Passu for views of the Cones and the Passu Glacier, then begin the return.
Travel by road or fly from Gilgit, weather permitting.
Days are usually mild and nights are cold, especially in Upper Hunza. Bring warm layers.
